EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK WITH CARILLON AND BIRD AUTOMATON.
London. Ca. 1840. John Henry Borrell.

Ebonised wood case with ornamental brass inlays. Gilt applications. Enamel dial. The case is in the shape of a neo-Gothic pointed arch. Beneath the dial double-door
engraved with bird motifs, behind this a moveable cock. Roman hour numerals. 8-day
movement, drive via three spring reels with chain and fusee. Quarter-hour chime on
carillon with eight bells, hour chime on a bell. 81x43x29cm.
Inscribed on the movement J H Borrell London.
Condition B. Bird automaton defective and in need of overhaul.
