HEAD OF A BUDDHA.
Thailand. Early Ayutthaya period (1350-1767). 14th-16th c.

Bronze with dark and partly patina. The calm and introverted facial features are of great elegance. The bridge of the nose
runs out into the two high brow arches, the eyes are almost closed and filled with residue
of lacquer for the missing inlays. The hair is formed as small spirals and covers the head
with the Ushnisha, which is crowned by a flame. Height 30cm. Mounted on a wooden base. Condition A/B. Tip broken off a long time ago and polished, left earlobe broken, but preserved.
