China. 17th c.

Bronze with residue of lacquer gilding and pigments. Sitting in dhyanasana with a dharma chakra each on the soles of his feet, the hands in bhumisparsa mudra. Urna and ushnisha highlighted in relief. The chest becomes visible beneath the open sanghati garment with lotus borders draped over both shoulders in tongjian style. The antarvasaka garment worn underneath is pleated and held in place by a ribbon around the waist. Weight 5.52kg, height 36.5cm. Condition A/B.
