LARGE BOULLE PENDULUM CLOCK LOUIS XIV.
Paris. Ca. 1700. Jacques Thuret Horloger du Roi.

Oak case with Boulle-technique veneer, tortoise shell and brass ornamentally laid in. Gilded bronze applications. Enamel cartouches. Scalloped cut console base. Thereon resting on four sphinges a case with breakfront edges,
atop this a female Caryatide. High, stepped cornice with vases and the goddess Hebe
sitting on an eagle. The magnificent, pierced dial with Roman hour cartouches and engraved
minutes. Rectangular pendulum movement, converted into a lever movement, thread suspension
and half-hour chime on a bell on top. Height 91cm.
The movement inscribed Thuret Hlger du Roy.
