LATE GOTHIC IRON CLOCK.
South Germany or Switzerland. Ca. 1600-20.

Iron partly painted in colours. Stone and iron weights. Upright rectangular, tower-like case with lantern finial. On all side remains of colour
painting. Landscape depictions, as well as on the front a winged hourglass on clouds.
Pierced finishes with flowers, faces and mythical creatures. The bell carrier with
stylised flowers. Large chapter ring with Roman numerals for the hours, beneath this an
auxiliary dial also with Roman numerals for the quarter-hours. Day clock movement with
weight drive, iron wheels, lever movement and verge escapement or Foliot. Hour chime on a
bell with annular-toothed locking plate. Height ca. 44cm. Condition B. Amendments typical for its age.
