SILVER BOWL ON HIGH FOOT.

Dynasty: Qing dynasty.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: Silver in repoussé.
Description: The bulbous, a bit compressed bowl with eightfold curved rim, the high foot indented and
set off with lines. Circumfencing the wall a garden landscape with ladies and gentlemen
beneath trees playing, making music, entertaining, enjoying incense and dancing. The
background with dense punching.
Measurement: Weight 1006g, height 16cm, Ø 24cm.
Seal: Underneath a hallmark: De Cheng Lou.
Provenance:
Estate of a German railwy engineer, Julius Dorpmüller (1869-1945) who stayed in China between 1907 and 1918 and helped design the Chinese Schantung Railway, and thence by descent.
