Title: Der heilige Mensch X.

Technique: Plaster cast, set.
Measurement: 185 x 58 x 35cm.
Frame/Pedestal: Mounted on a subsequently manufactured plate (0,5 x 64,5 x 65cm).
Condition:
Slight superficial staining, especially on the central element and on the surface of the lower element. Discoloured spots in the middle section (fly droppings). Some flaking of the material at corners and edges (up to max. 1cm). Larger flaking of material in places as well as putties that are probably recent. Plinth with traces of paint and slight staining. Otherwise very good condition.

Abraham David Christian was invited to documenta 5 in 1972 with his work, when he was only 19 years old. Joseph Beuys and Abraham David Christian staged the legendary "Boxkampf für direkte Demokratie durch Volksabstimmung" on 8 October 1972 at the close of the documenta 5 exhibition.
The artist showed the work presented here in his room at documenta 7 in 1982. The work is part of the sculpture group "Der heilige Mensch".

- With his universal language of form, the artist does not create an image, but rather conveys an idea that one is meant to contemplate
- The artist was the youngest participant at documenta V (1972) and documenta VII (1982) and was appointed to the Düsseldorf Art Academy by the then Rector Norbert Kricke at the age of 24.
