Title: Idyllische Landschaft bei Positano.
Date: Ca. 1924.
Technique: Gouache on Cartiera italiana serravalle sesia (watermark).
Measurement: 63,5 x 47,5cm.
Notation: Inscribed (by Hans Stocker) lower right: K. Mense.
Condition:
Minimally and unevenly discoloured. Slight creases, especially on the edges. Partial minor foxing. Nail holes in the corners, partially torn out. Four holes in the lower right margin. Minimally stained. Occasional traces of paint. Blind stamp minimally torn out at lower left. Occasional slight rubbings in the depiction. Verso slight stainings and slightly and unevenly discoloured.
The work presumably comes from the estate of the painter Hans Stocker, whom Mense must have met in Positano in 1924 at the latest.
Its authenticity was confirmed by Dr Klara Drenker-Nagels by telephone on 23.8.24 on the basis of a photograph. We are grateful to Dr Drenker-Nagels for her kind scientific support.
