Date: Around 1920/30.
Material: Platinum, 750/- plated with yellow gold, tested.
Total Weight: Ca. 15,0 g.
Measurement: Length 6,0 cm, width 2,4 cm.
Diamonds: Ca. 112 old- and 8/8-cut diamonds Ø ca. 1.0 - 3.0 mm, in the standard quality for the time.
Gemstones: 2 small sapphires as the eyes Ø ca. 0,9 mm.
Description: Master's mark "J" in a rectangle with open top, surrounded by an oval.
Several indistinct hallmarks, including one that looks like a rooster's head looking to the right.
Swallow couples often stay together for their entire lives and, after spending the winter in the south, often return to their shared nest. That is why they have the reputation of being lovebirds. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, swallow motifs were a popular symbol of love. The brooch presented here is a double brooch, so that both partners can wear one bird each as a sign of attachment to their partner.
