BULBOUS GLASS VASE WITH SEAWEED AND STARFISH.

Gallé, Emile. Nancy.

Date: Around 1905.
Technique: Colourless glass, overlaid in light green and red as well as streaky, dark blue fusings in between.
Description: Circumferential, etched decor with corals, water plants and a starfish in the centre.
Engraved on the bottom "à Mme Lucie Nico Souvenier affectueux Thérèse Bourgogne Gallé".
Measurement: Height 12,5cm, ø ca. 18,5cm.
Mark: On the lower area of the wall inscribed "Gallé", etched elevated.

Literatur:
Klesse, Brigitte/ Mayr, Hans: Glas vom Jugendstil bis heute. Sammlung Gertrud und Dr. Karl Funke-Kaiser, Cologne 1981, compare a vase with the same decor cat.no.191.

This vase bears an inscription of the eldest daughter of Emile Gallé, Thérèse Bourgogne (1877-1966), who dedicated it to a Mme Lucie Nico in affection.
