Addition, 2.11.2020: François Marandet, London, points out that the author of this painting may have been active in the workshop of Charles Le Brun (Paris, 1619 - 1690), which included painters of various nationalities. The two heads may have been painted while the master was making the Dinner at Simon's house around 1650 for the church of the Carmelite convent in rue Saint Jacques in Paris.
