SMALL IRON CASKET WITH GROTESQUES.

Date: Late 16th c.
Technique: Iron.
Description: Finely etched decoration on all sides with faces, animals and grimaces intertwined in
tendrils. Rectangular body with a hinged, barrel-vaulted lid with a transverse iron band,
a handle in the centre and a hinged latch at the front. This latch can be released by a
secret mechanism, with the lock concealed underneath. Casket can be opened, no key
available.
Measurement: 11,5x15x10cm.
