Technique: Three squares of white half cardboard reworked with oil paint, collaged on white cardboard.
Measurement: 42 x 29,5cm.
Notation: Signed and dated lower centre: Richter '98. As well as inscribed top centre: 1 3 4.
Frame/Pedestal: Framed (42,5 x 30,5cm).
Condition:
Minimal soiling. The work is in very good condition. Not examined out of the frame.
The edition was published by Texte zur Kunst, Cologne (issue no. 32). It was created in connection with the commissioned work "Schwarz, Rot, Gold" (Black, Red, Gold), which the artist made in 1999 for the German Bundestag in the Reichstag building in Berlin (cf. cat. rais. no. 856).
From a selection of four shades of black, four shades of red and four shades of gold previously determined by Gerhard Richter, 64 different colour combinations were formed twice. Which of the four colour tones are contained in each collage is indicated by the three-digit number on the sheet. Thus each copy of the (2 x) 64 collages has an individual colouring.
