SILVER COFFEE POT, SO CALLED "TÜRKENKOPFKANNE".

Hamburg.
Date: 1740-67.
Maker/Designer: Jacob Barthels.
Technique: Silver. Ebonized wooden handle.
Description: Large console spout with mascaron and strongly bulged lid, characteristic for this type of jug. The owner inscription "C.M. St.d. 29.August 1815", engraved in dots on the bottom, is a later addition.
Weight: Approx. 805g.
Measurement: Height 26,5cm.
Mark: Inspection mark Hamburg 1740-67 (Schliemann no.56), test mark, maker's mark Jacob Barthels (1695-1778, ibid. no.381).
