According to the previous owners, Albrecht Krückl confirmed the authenticity of the sheet in 2007. and dated it to the time of Bürkel's stay in Italy in 1830-32. He refers to Bürkle's painting listed under catalogue raisonné no. 597, which shows the architecture shown here in a slightly different view.
