"Models - I wanted the pieces to be like models - are usually more fragile than some monumental metal sculpture. And people often find it very pleasing when they can still see something old, intended as a sketch, because it's been preserved. Fragility can be a very beautiful thing, more beautiful than something that's obviously made to last forever. It's very important to me that the things I'm making are really by me, and not made by assistants or farmed out as commissions. Every piece is by me, made by my own hand."
Isa Genzken interview with Michael Krajewski, Parkett no. 69, 2003.
Article on the work and artist from Parkett edition no. 69.
Isa Genzken is currently showing a major retrospective at the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin on the occasion of her 75th birthday.
