The antique model of the thorn extractor, also called Spinario, is a Hellenistic bronze sculpture, which today can be found in the Palazzo dei Conservatori in Rome. It already gained a lot if interest in the early Renaissance where it was copied many times. The first bronze casts we know of are from this period. In the course of the coming centuries, the thorn extractor, and different variants inspired by it, were created by numerous artists
