The two offered Beuys' drawings originate form the year 1972 and are examples for Beuys' last development of Beuys' drawing world. They are closer to diagramms than with drawings. Thus, they are proof for Beuys' desire for a social-theoretical area. Social questions were always in Beuys area of interest. But they dominate his drawings only since the seventies.
In the works at hand Beuys devides the areas with different axis. On these axis' and the spaces created by these axisthere are different words and names to be found. In one of the two drawings there are also figurative depictions of a crucifixion and the sun. Beuys combines in this diagram scetches of religion, science and philosophy. Thus, there are names of significant scientists such as Copernicus und Newton also words like "freie Gesellschaft", "Analysis" and "Synthesis" to be found, paired with symboles of christanity and refernces. These diagram-linke drawings are sudies for the "soziale Skulptur", a philosopgical vision of beuys.
At first sight these quick pencile drawings seen muddled and disordered. But they allow a uncensored view in the artist's philosophical world of thoughs and establish the work of an idea of a whole society that combines science, beliefs and emotions. For the viewer it is a portal to a great artistic mind and is therefore a unique time and cultural-historic ducument.
