- Large-format work from his well-known series of works in a characteristically reduced formal language.
- Opie is an important representative of the "New British Sculpture" movement of the 1980s, to which Tony Cragg and Richard Deacon also belong.
- Works by the artist are in numerous important collections, including the Kunsthaus Zürich, Tate Modern, London, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
