LARGE STANDING BRONZE BUDDAH WITH ALMS BOWL.
Origin: Thailand.
Dynasty: Rattanakosin.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: Bronze with black lacquer, gilt.
Description: The Buddha is depicted standing, begging with an alms bowl. The robe lies smoothly against
the body and is decorated with numerous flower medallions. It covers both shoulders and
the arms. On his head is a flame, his eyes open and with white inlays.
Measurement: Height with plinth 192cm, without plinth 159cm.
Provenance:
Rhenish corporate collection. Acquired in Bangkok in the early 1970s. A copy of the invoice is available.
