In his catalogue raisonné of Marten van Cleve, Ertz refers to his literature on Pieter Brueghel the Younger, published in 2000, in which he does not attribute the painting shown here under cat. no. A 841 to Pieter Brueghel the Younger, but does not yet see it as Marten van Cleve either. The confirmation of van Cleve's authorship took place during the preparation of his catalogue raisonné.
