PAIR OF CHILDREN BUSTS.

Meissen.
Date: 19th century.
Maker/Designer: Model J.J. Kaendler.
Technique: Porcelain, enriched in colours and gold.
Description: Both busts on gold-decorated rocaille bases. The prince's bonnet is trimmed with gold
braid and decorated with feathers, his jacket collar is also trimmed with gold. The
princess with bonnet and clothes decorated with scattered flowers. Both busts with draped
shawls and small bouquet on the chest.
Measurement: Height approx. 23,5cm.
Mark: Swordsmark, once with two grind marks, 2744.

The busts, designed as a pair, show the images of Prince Louis Joseph Xavier de Bourbon
(1751-1761) and his sister Princess Marie Zéphirine de Bourbon (1750-1755). Both children
were born of the marriage between Louis Ferdinand de Bourbon (1729-1765) and Maria Josepha
of Saxony (1731-1767). Both died in early childhood.
