PLATE WITH COAT OF ARMS FROM THE 'FERRERO SERVICE'.

Meissen.
Date: around 1740.
Technique: Porcelain, enriched in colors and gold.
Description: Narrow rim with slightly wavy, golden edge. In the mirror a finely painted carnation. In
addition, various smaller flowers and insects on the rim and in the center. Rim decorated
with a coat of arms held by two fish-tailed creatures in front of ermine drapery.
Measurement: ø 24cm.
Mark: Swordsmark.

Provenance:
Private collection Hamburg, acquired at Johann Ofner, Bahlburg Antiquitäten.

The service was given to the Italian statesman Carlo Francesco Vincenzo Ferrero, Marquis d'Ormea (1680-1745), presumably during his activities as an ambassador in Dresden. The size of the service and the exact reason for the gift to the diplomat and envoy of the Sardinian crown is unfortunately not known.
