SPOUTED PORCELAIN CUP WITH STRAW-COLOURED BASE AND SAUCER WITH COFFEE-COLOURED BASE.

Meissen.
Date: Ca. 1740/50 resp. 1720/25.
Technique: Porcelain, painted blue under glaze, colourful ground.
Description: The spouted cup with fluted walls and straw-coloured ground. Inside at the rim an underglaze blue band with stylised suns. The base of the cup depicts a landscape scene with a temple and a rising sun.
The saucer with a coffee-brown ground and a recessed cross-shaped area on the inside. The underglaze blue decoration with a citrus disc and floral tendrils. From the collection of Augustus the Strong in the Japanese Palace, with the so-called Johanneum number (today the palais number). Underglaze blue painting with peony blossoms in the centre.
Measurement: Height 5,7cm, ø 11,4cm.
Mark: One swords mark, painted blue under glaze. One blue painter's mark M. The saucer with palais number "N:600".
