Technique: Glass beads on rice sack on satin.
Measurement: 52 x 50 x

The artwork is a drapo Vodou or Voodoo flag. Such flags were originally created for voodoo temples and depicted scenes and deities from voodoo. This type of richly beaded flag was designed in the 1990s by Myrlande Constant, a former bridal dressmaker, and elevated to an art form in its own right. Mireille Delismé (also spelled Delice) learned this art from Constant, who is a cousin. Her designs are grounded in the formal language of voodoo and, according to her, often appear in her dreams. "Guede" is the name for a group of spiritual beings who are responsible for birth and death in voodoo mythology.
