OPHTHALMOSKOPS WITH PHANTOM EYE UND 100 GLASS EYES.
Date: Ca. 1890 to 1930s.
Technique: Brass, blown glass, painted. Two etuis with glass eyes.
Measurement: H.19.5cm. Etuis: 33.5x16.5cm, 29.5x18cm.
Condition B/C. Rubbed.
The device was used to train future ophthalmologists. With the help of the phantom eye and
twelve enclosed, finely painted half-shells, they could learn to identify eye diseases.
Invented in 1866 by Dr. Maurice Perrin (1826-1889).
Date: Ca. 1890 to 1930s.
