Description: Chinese couple with parrots sitting on a volute-shaped wall decorated with acanthus leafs.

The two andirons mark the high point of the so-called "goût pittoresque". Nature is integrated into the interior decoration as a bizarrely exaggerated decorative element. In addition, there is the representation of the foreign, the exotic in the form of the sitting Chinese couple, who are now at the service of a supposedly cultivated world.
