Book and ex libris in very good condition.
The artist was asked by Salon Verlag to select a book that she considered particularly important and to design a new cover for it and publish it under a new name as a "reprint". She chose the children's book "Mike and the Modelmakers" by M. Sasek from 1970. Whiteread's studio was located near the "Lesney" company, which produced the "Matchbox" cars in the 1970s, to which the cover and the ex libris refer. Originally, the multiple included a lead cement mixer in Matchbox format. This is missing.
