In the 1980s, with the introduction of the reference 16520, Rolex marked a significant step: the switch to an automatic mechanism. The Daytona 16520 is equipped with the Rolex Calibre 4030, which is based on the famous Zenith El Primero. This clockwork enabled greater accuracy and improved chronograph functionality. The 16520 was a milestone as it introduced the automatic clockwork to the Daytona series while retaining the distinctive design.
