Title: "La Sirène".

Technique: Glass beads and sequins on satin and rice bag.

Notation: Titled
upper centre: LA SIRENE. As well as signed bottom right AZOR.
Frame/Pedestal: Hanging pole.


The artwork is a drapo Vodou or Voodoo flag. Similar flags were created for Voodoo temples and depicted scenes and deities of Voodoo. This type of beaded flag was designed in 1990s by Myrlande Constant, a formal bridal dressmaker, and elevated to an artform in its own. Roudy Azor is one of the first men to make a name for himself in this artform. He uses the iconography of Voodoo but reinterprets it in his own and unique manner.

Condition:
The work is in excellent condition.
