Notation: Signed and dated lower centre: R. Schiestl 1919.
Frame/Pedestal: Framed.
Condition:
Revisions on the left under the arms of the dancing couple, in the face of the dancing man, on the collar of the wind player as well as in the centre on the right. Horizontal tear on the painting layer running across the entire image. Minimal loss of paint at the right edge of the painting at the level of the tear. Overall however in a clean and colour fresh condition.
Frame: Minimal loosening of the mitre at lower right and upper left.

In this painting Rudolf Scheitsl depicts in his well-known, splendid colours the joy of life of the farmers and peasants, whose lives are primarily shaped by the hard work in the fields, and within the rather straight-line composition he creates a dynamic rhythm within the scene by depicting and arranging the dancing figures.
