UCHIKAKE.

Origin: Japan.
Date: Early 20th c.
Technique: Black satin silk, heavily embroidered with colored silk and gold. Eyes made of behind painted glass. Padded seam, red silk lining.
Description: Decorated with lions (shishi), a bridge and peonies. The motifs refer to the play Shakkyô - The Stone Bridge.
A auspicious dance piece that belongs to the repertoire of the Nô as well as to the kabuki and the dances of the geisha.
Measurement: L. ca. 180cm.
Condition A/B.
