The work temporarely served as cover for a reverse glass painting by Walter Dexel. It was only discovered later during a restauration. In addition, there is a further version "Bahnunterfahrt I" (cf. Wöbkemeier/Vitt cat. rais. no. 2), which to this day is part of the collection of the Von der Heydt-Museums.
