For several generations private ownership, Germany.
We were able to offer a painting with the same subject but a completely different motif, dated 'Breege, 20 August 1886', in November 2008. These two comparative pieces, which have identical dimensions, provide an insight into the working methods of the young artist, who was to play a leading role in Berlin art around 1900.
