WHITE TARA ON LOTUS BASE.

Origin: Nepal.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: Bronze with remains of gilding and pigments. Figure cast, base in repoussé.
Description: She is adorned with the sevenfold Bodhisattva jewels and her dhoti lies in rich folds around her legs. Next her shoulders the lotus flowers, around her head a mandorla with leaves. Her right foot is placed on a seperate lotus base, showing her readiness for action
.
Measurement: 825g. H.14.8cm, w.10.9cm.
Condition A/B.

Provenance:
Collection Dr. Wolfgang Schumann, Indologist and author of numerous reference books on the subject of Buddhism and India. Lived in India from 1960, was 1988-93 German Consul General in Bombay. In 2000 he was awarded the Rabindranath Tagore Prize for Literature.
