LARGE METAL MASS CHALICE.
Presumably Küstrin.
Date: Ca. mid-17th c.
Technique: Silver with inner and partial gilding.
Description: Broad, six-cornered foot with a curved rim, with a single indentation on the top. The
centre rises on six sides and merges into a corresponding shaft with profiles and a pennant-shaped collar. Strong, only slightly depressed nodus, the six rotuli in the form of set glass stones, partly backed with coloured metal foils. Smooth, conically flared bowl with a stepped lip rim.
Weight: Ca. 680g.
Measurement: Height 25cm, Ø bottom 16,5cm.
Mark: Inspection mark presumably for Küstrin (Scheffler, Central & North Germany no.308), maker's mask "EW" lig. (unknown maker).
Prussian tax stamp for church silverware from 1809.
