Provenance:
Private ownership, Germany.
The present terracotta bust, representing the bust of Cupid, was modelled by an unidentified artist after a sculpture by Thorvaldsen: It is probably a partial copy of A36 in the Thorvaldsensmuseum, which depicts Cupid with his bow and was probably created in 1819. The creator of this terracotta has reinterpreted the attachments of the arms and wings.
