CADDY FOR POWDERED TEA (CHAIRE) IN SO-CALLED RICE BALL FORM (YONE ICHI).

Origin: Japan.
Date: Mid. 17th c.
Technique: Iron red dark stoneware, covered with dark brown iron glaze (tetsu yu) and running overglaze.
Description: In katatsuki shape with straight walls with slight turning grooves and horizontally set
off shoulder, lip a bit flared. The flat bottom with itokiri. Old collection number: 7.
Original, slightly deepened ivory lid with dentinal canal, gilded underneath.
Measurement: H.8.8cm, Ø 6.2cm.
Condition B. Supplement: Wooden box (kiribako) for a tea caddy, but not matching. H.15,5cm, 9,5x9,5cm.


Provenance:
Collection Dr. Franz Haniel (1883-1965), since then bequest of the family estate.
