Origin: Japan.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: In Cizhou style. Ivory colored earthen ware, glazed transparent with fine crazing. In bas-relief four medallions painted in purple and manganese brown.
Description: The wall compressed in square shape. Old gold lacquer repairs (kin tsugi).
Measurement: H.11.2cm, Ø 13cm.
Signature: Underneath signature of Kenzan (Ogata Kenzan, 1663-1743), but in the style of.
Seal: Old collection label: No 31 M 4.
Condition B/C. Supplement: Not matching: Wooden box (kiribako). H.9cm, 20.5x17cm.


Provenance:
Collection Dr. Franz Haniel (1883-1965), since then bequest of the family estate.
