PENDULUM CLOCK WITH ORPHEUS.

Chatelain. Paris

Date: Around 1830.
Technique: Gilt bronze.
Description: Rectangular pedestal with relief overlays showing Zodiac symbols. On top a splendid
figural composition with Orpheus playing the flute, at his feet various animals listening
to his melodies. He himself leans against the round clock case, which rests on a rock
pedestal out of which flows a spring. Enamel dial with Roman numerals. Very large 14-day
pendulum movement with thread suspension and half-hour strike on bell.
Measurement: 53,5x44x14cm.
Mark: On dial inscr. "Chatelain à Paris".
Enclosed: P & K.

Provenance:
