EARLY HORIZONTAL COPPER TABLE CLOCK.
Caroli, Christian. Königsberg
Date: End of 16th c.
Technique: Copper fire-gilded, silver and silver-plated, steel, glass, among others.
Description: Rectangular case on four small console feet with openworked by windows and glazed sides.
The top has an ornamentally engraved rim and the dial features finely engraved flowers in
the spandrels, with a central depiction of the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden. The ring
dial has blackened Roman hours and a single hand. The back plate features finely
decoratively pierced and engraved elements and a spindle piston. Hour striking movement on
a bell below, movement with spindle winding, fusee and chain.
Measurement: 8.5x10.5x10.5cm.
Mark: On the back plate inscr. 'Christian Caroli Königsberg' (end of 16th/ start of 17th c., Abeler S.96).
