We thank Erwin Rehn, Nauroth, for confirming the attribution of the present painting on the basis of a high-resolution photograph and for including it in the catalogue raisonné currently under production. He dated the work to the time around 1755 and assumes the hand of his Frankfurt painter colleague Friedrich Wilhelm Hirt (Frankfurt/Main 1721 - 1772) in the animal staffage.
