LARGE TRIPLE CASED COACH CLOCK FOR THE OTTOMAN MARKET.

de St. Leu, Daniel. London

Date: Silver case William West. London. 1785.
Technique: Silver, tortoise shell, walnut, welded steel, accromatic glass amongst others.
Description: Overall three cases starting with one hinged wooden case with fine ornamental inlays,
verso Arabic characters and in the lid ligated monogram "DL". Another case jacket with
tortoise shell and floral silver piquet as well as sound holes along the rims. The case
jacket that was worked with silver with floral climbers worked à jour and verso with
finely engraved pedicels. Enamel dial with turquoise numerals as well as change adorned
with white and pink rhinestones, welded steel hands. The movement between two gilded brass
plates, the back panel signed "3512 Daniel De S.Leu Watchmaker to her Majesty London".
Train made of brass, verge movement with circular balance, spring balance with chain and
fusee. Bell mounted in the case bottom. Petite Sonnerie striking quarter hours and full
hours. Chatelaine with winding key.
Measurement: Length 16cm, Ø 11,5. Length Chatelaine 49,5cm.
Mark: On dial inscr. "De St. Leu London". Silver case inspection mark for London 1785, maker's mark "WW" presumably for William West, Jerusalem Court, St. John's Square.
