In the Decorative Art auction, an exquisite private collection from Trier with early porcelain pieces from the Meissen manufactory will be called up. It includes selected 18th-century items with gold-etched scenes from the Seuter workshop in Augsburg, precious ground porcelains and exotic chinoiseries. Another private collection from Bavaria on offer contains historic toys and miniatures, including an extensive collection of silver miniatures from Germany, England and the Netherlands.
Silver miniatures have always radiated a very special magic. Especially in Holland, silver objects in miniature became increasingly fashionable in the waning 17th century. This is where the goldsmiths demonstrated their skill, which is why many silver miniatures even show a hallmark and brand. The offerings move from the miniatures to an iconic design pattern of the 20th century: the grape pattern which the famous Danish silversmith Georg Jensen created in the 1920s. The magnificent candelabrum from this popular series of the Copenhagen workshop lends any room a touch of elegance and luxury.
