LARGE VERMEIL CHALICE FROM THE POSESSION OF CANON ANDREAS KLIMANN.

Description: Highly vaulted, round base with several recesses and rich relief décor with festoons and
blossoms. On the top in three cartouches Christ with crown of thorns, Mary as Mater
Dolorosa and a representation of Saint Laurence. The baluster stem with cherubim and palm
leaves. Smooth cup with slightly flared rim. On the flat, slightly flared rim of the base
dedication inscription: "D.O.M. Andreas Klimannus I.C.D. CAN: ET OFFIIIS WRAT: SCHOL GLOG:
PD ORATE P EO".
Weight: Ca. 420g.
Measurement: Height 25cm.
Mark: Inspection Mark Wroclaw around 1618-45 (Hintze no.4), maker's mark Fabian Nitsch (1602-30, ibid. no.72).
Prussian tax stamp 1809-12.
