Auction results from: Franz Radziwill
RADZIWILL, FRANZ
1895 Strohhausen/Wesermarsch - 1983 Wilhelmshaven

Title: "Saarländische Landschaft" (Saarlandschaft).
Date: 1937/40.
Technique: Oil on canvas.
Mounting: Mounted on wood.
Measurement: 52 x 90,5cm.
Notation: Signed and dated lower left: Franz Radziwill 1940. As well as titled and dated once more verso: Saarländische Landschaft 1937. Here additionally with the artist's stamp and his work number.
Frame/Pedestal: Craftman's frame.

In 1937, Franz Radziwill wrote several times in letters to Dr W. Niemeyer about a trip to the Eifel. He may also have made a detour to the Saarland. There is no evidence of Radziwill travelling in 1940. It seems likely that the work was completed in the artist's studio in 1940. We are grateful to Prof. Dr. Dr. Presler for his kind scientific support.
