Notation: Signed and dated lower right: Fr. Kallmorgen 1901.
Frame/Pedestal: Framed.
Condition:
Closed, slightly stained painting surface without visible damage. In our opinion, the areas that emerge darkly under UV light are partly attributed to the dark brown shade used by the artist. The contours were partly redrawn (by the artist?). Overworks in the sky as well as at lower left.
Frame: Bumping and slight chipping.
The present painting is particularly distinguished by its colour palette, which, in contrast to other paintings by the artist, consists almost exclusively of mixed brown shades. Due to the colouring as well as with regard to the motif, the painting is therefore strongly reminiscent of the so-called Hague School.
