Provenance:
Private ownership, Italy.
The present drawing shows the child Jupiter on Mount Ida in Crete, cared for by the nymphs Adamantea, her companions Cinosura and Melissa, and the goat Amalthea, who fed him with her milk. The work was probably a preparatory work for a fresco or a cycle of engravings with mythological episodes.
