Meissen.
Maker/Designer: Model J. J. Kaendler.
Technique: Porcelain, decorated in colour and gold.
Description: The ten figurines show the characters Coviello, Pantalone with mask, Harlequin with viola,
Tartaglia, Brighella, Pulcinello, Advocato, Boaro, Dottore and Gondolier.
Measurement: Height 17,5-19,5cm.
Mark: Sword's mark, painted blue under the glaze. Var. painter's numbers and model numbers. Year marks for 1973/1953/1955/1971.

Provenance:
Private collection Cologne.

The Italian Commedia dell'Arte, as it was performed especially in Venice nad Naples, became immensely popular in the 17th century. For the manufactory Meissen Kaendler designed the porcelain figurines who presents the theatre's characters in an empathetic and lively manner.
