We would like to thank Laurens Schoemaker, RKD Den Haag, for helping catalogue the present painting on the basis of a high-resolution digital photograph. Schoemker points out that an authorship by Bonaventura Peeters is rather unlikely and sees the Haarlem painter Hendrick Staets (1600 - 1659/79) as the most likely artist of this high-quality panel.
